BASHKIR STATE UNIVERSITY
Bashkir State University is the oldest university of the Republic of Bashkortostan. It is a successor of Ufa Teacher Training Institute (that was based in 1909), and which was transformed into Institute of Public Education, and later into Bashkir State Pedagogical Institute was reorganized into Bashkir State University.
Within 100 years of existence, Bashkir State University has confirmed its right to be called one of the top universities in Russia. The university’s long history, wide areas of scientific research, dynamic developmental programs and innovation allow for it to be on the leading edge of the Russian Science.
For today Bashkir State University is reckoned among the top 100 Russian best Universities. BSU ranks high among the top 40 of the National Rating of Classical University.
Being among the top universities of the state, Bashkir State University became a winner of contest of a strategic development program for 2012-2016 and got the annual support in the amount of 100 million rubles in order to realize this program.
Today Bashkir State University incorporates 4 institutes, 11 departments and 4 branches situated in Sibai, Sterlitamak, Birsk and Neftekamsk. More than 37.000 students, postgraduates and doctoral candidates from 17 Russian regions and 21 countries around the world are studying at BSU.
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Training in BSU is provided in more than 150 majors, including Specialist, BA and MA courses. More than 20 training areas including areas including engineering that are not typically for classical university have appeared over the last two years. Their range is expanding each year and varies depending on the call of times and prospects of the economy and society development.
Bashkir State University is a large center for postgraduate studies. Each year more than 600 postgraduate and doctoral students study here, which accounts for one third of postgraduate and doctoral students of Bashkortostan.
Also the additional professional education is realized in BSU – short-term and long-term – extension courses, professional training and refresher courses on various areas.
Today the international activity of the University is carried out within the terms of the agreements with more than 40 partner universities and international organizations in Europe, Asia, the USA and Africa.
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
In order to improve educational programs Bashkir State University engages in activities oriented on implementing double-degree programs in Economics, Psychology, Physics with the Glyndwr University (UK), the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilev (Kazakhstan), as well as St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo (Bulgaria).
Teacher and scientists of Bashkir State University are in high-demand abroad being often invited to give lectures and academic courses, as well as to participate in common research projects. BSU students annually take part in exchange programs in China, South Korea, France, while foreign students from partner universities come to BSU to undergo internship programs.
