Department of Continuos Media Mechanics

Department of Continuos Media Mechanics was foundated in 1991. The head of department is Dr. Sc. Prof. Iskander Shaukatovich Akhatov.

Department carries out the study work at the Faculties of Mathematics, Physics and Common Technic of Bashkir State University. There are two Doctors of Science and five Ph. Doctors which are involved in study process. The main cources of department are: theoretical mechanics, mathematical modeling of technological processes, mathematical modeling of continuos media mechanics, high mathematics.

The main directions of scientific investigations are: supercompression of bubbles and bubble clouds; sonoluminescence; safeorganization in bubbly systems; investigations of nonlinear short-long wave interaction in plasma and bubbly systems; properties of anomalous viscous liquid flows and granular systems in applications of modeling of technological processes of oil refining and construction of new effective technologies.

The investigations are carrying out in the range of:

1. grants of RFFI;
2. FCP RF ‘State support of integration of high school education and fundamental science in 1997-2000’;
3. FCNTP Ministry of Science of RF, project: ‘Wave processes and safeorganization in bubbly systems; acoustic cavitation and sonoluminescence’;
4. grant of Ministry of Education of RF in the field of fundamental natural knowledge ‘Hydrodynamics and selforganization of cavitation bubbles’;
5. bilateral Russian-Germany agreement of science technic cooperation by support of GNTP Russia ‘Physics of kwant and wave processes’.

Among the graduates of Department there are five Ph. Doctors. Department holds up scientific cooperation with MSU, Mechanics Institute of MSU and USC RAS, Goettingen University, Third Physics Institute (Germany), Boston University (USA), Rensselair Polytechnic Institute (Troy, USA), Patras University (Greece), Institute of Nuclear Problems (Belorussia).
