Office of the Head of Studies and Methodology

The Office of the Head of Studies and Methodology is a basic structural unit of the University providing for planning, organizing and controlling teaching and methodological activities. There has been an Office of the Head of Studies in the University since its foundation. Originally, it was a department, the main functions of which were to organize educational process, provide document support to faculties and academic departments, control calculation, distribution and performance of teachers’ workloads, organize work and teaching practices, etc. In 1991 the Office of the Head of Studies was renamed Department of Studies and Methodology. In 2003 it was transformed into an Office of the Head of Studies and Methodology.
 
There are departments of studies and methodology in the Sibai, Sterlitamak and Neftekamsk branches. Separate departments of studies and methodology operate in the BashSU Institute of Law, in the Academy of Comprehensive Business Safety and Security, at the Faculty of Economics.
 
The Office of the Head of Studies and Methodology:
  • plans, organizes and controls educational process of all forms of tuition;
  • organizes and controls student practices;
  • forms and supports the data base on the student body of all forms of tuition;
  • plans and organizes professional development of teaching staff;
  • presents all types of reports related to educational activities at the University;
  • introduces an automated system for calculating academic workloads for teachers and compiling assignment cards;
  • coordinates activities related to introducing and using the module-rating student education and assessment system at the Faculties;
  • collects and checks documents for rating assessment of teachers’ activities and calculating sums of monthly bonuses from the incentive payments fund;
  • carries out work related to the transition to the level education system;
  • develops plans for implementing innovation technologies, active and interactive teaching methods in the educational process and coordinates these activities;
  • collects and presents materials for licensing and accrediting the University;
  • performs regular checks of teacher maintenance of labour discipline, student attendance, keeps records of and optimizes auditorium fund usage, controls study schedules, etc.
The Office of the Head of Studies and Methodology consists of the Department of Educational Process Monitoring and Statistics, the Innovation Technologies and Level Education Sector, the Licensing and Certification Sector and the Supervisory Service.
 
The main objective of the Office of the Head of Studies and Methodology is to improve, modernise and optimize the educational process in the University, as well as manage, coordinate and control the activities of University’s structural units in the sphere of educational process organization.
