The Department of General Economic Theory is the oldest one at the Faculty. In 2007 it celebrated its 60th anniversary. Until 1992 it existed in the form of a university-wide Department of Political Economy, afterwards it was renamed Department of General Economic Theory, and in 1995 it entered the structure of the Faculty of Economics. That was connected with profound quality changes in the content of the educational course and with development of the Faculty of Economics.
