This course enables students to deepen their knowledge of topography, to enhance their sense of direction, and to become trainers in these spheres. Future guides study the nature and structure of mountains, mountain relief, mountain topography, and learn to orient themselves on plains and in the medium-altitude mountains of the Southern Urals. As part of their course students go on a test trip that helps them consolidate the knowledge they have obtained and get significant experience in the field of hiking techniques and tactics.

The Department of Ecotourism in association with the BashSU trade-union committee organized walking tours to Iremel Mountain, which is the second highest mountain in Bashkortostan after Yaman-Tau Mountain, to celebrate the University’s 100th anniversary. In May 2010 walking tours to the South Ural mountains and along the Inzer River were organized to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
