The DSI is a structural unit of the University which is functionally subject to the Vice-Chancellor for Science, responsible for implementing the unified scientific policy of the University and supervising scientific research, innovation, patent and licensing activities.

Main aims and tasks:
  • providing for a high level of fundamental applied research and innovation developments which presuppose integration of science, education and practice, forming professional research competencies;
  • planning of and providing organizational and technical support for scientific and innovation activities at the University;
  • increasing the competitive level of the University on the market of science-consuming technologies.

Aims and tasks of the RDD:
  • priority development of fundamental research as a basis for creating new knowledge, exploring new technologies, formation and development of scientific schools and leading scientific teams within the most important areas of scientific and technological development;
  • providing for training qualified specialists and scientific and teaching staff of highest qualifications in the university on the basis of the latest achievements of technological progress;
  • preserving and consolidating scienсe as a basis which determines the development of higher education;
  • making science-intensive products and competitive samples of new equipment and materials aimed at the higher technologies market;
  • developing student scientific research (SSR), and youth scientific and technical creative work (YSTCM);
  • developing the financial basis of research and development through using non-budgetary funds and innovations.

Aims and tasks of IO:
  • developing innovation in basic research, pilot and applied studies;
  • commercialising the results of intellectual endeavour of the University’s research teams, staff, students and post-graduates;
  • ensuring that the innovative structure of the University operates efficiently
  • development of the main directions of scholarly and innovative activities at the University;
  • participation in the formation of a developed innovative structure of the University (small-scale innovative enterprises, technology transfer centre, multiple-access centres etc.);
  • creation of favourable conditions for commercialising the results of intellectual endeavour of the University’s research teams, staff, students and post-graduates.

Aims and tasks:
  • providing patent and license support for University’s activities;
  • developing and implementing a unified patent and license policy of the University;
  • providing information support for work that involves creating protected results of intellectual activities in the University;
  • carrying out systematic management, coordination and supervision of activities of University’s structural units in the sphere of invention and patent and license work;
  • providing legal protection of intellectual activity results produced in the course of academic, scientific and production work in the University;
  • protecting University’s property rights in respect of protected intellectual activity results, as well as property and personal non-property rights of authors of protected intellectual activity results;
  • preparing and submitting to the administration of information analysis reports on the sate of invention and patent and license work in the University;
  • promoting scientific and technical achievements of the University;
  • taking part in preparing and implementing managerial decisions by the University administration within the jurisdiction of the department;
  • assisting University staff and students in acquiring knowledge of patent science.
