The Institute of Physics and Technology is the oldest Bashkir State University structural unit, being of the same age as the University itself.
Academic disciplines are taught by 73 teachers, including 24 Doctors of Physics and Mathematics and Technology and 41 Candidate of Sciences. Students are partly trained by scientists from Russian Academy of Sciences (Institute for Metals Superplasticity Problems of Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute for Molecular and Crystal Physics of Russian Academy of Sciences), as well as by leading specialist of OAO Bashinformsvyaz, NPO Bashneftegeofiziki, etc.
 
There are 3 specialised councils for doctoral dissertations defence at the Faculty.
 
The Faculty of Physics has a full educational cycle: programmes for Bachelors, Diplomaed Specialists and Masters, postgraduate and doctoral courses
