Oktyabrsky is a town in the eastern part of our republic, on the right
bank of the Ik river. The distance to Ufa is 188 km. Since 1935 year it
was a village, since 1946 a town. The population is 76.8 thousand in 1970
year, 88.3 thousand in 1979 year, 104.5 thousand in 1989 year and 109.9
thousand in 1994 year.
The appearance and economical
evolution were connected to the petroleum mining. The modern branch structure
is representative with obtaining petroleum factories, building companies,
porcelain-faience works, light industry, tannery and food-processing industry.
There is «Tuimazyneft», Octyabrsky's production company «Avtopribor», factories
for production special technological equipment, constructions from metal,
the building joint-stock company «Stroneg». The highway Oktyabrsky-Ufa
connects Oktyabrsky with towns and regions of our republic.
There are 22 high schools with 16533 students in it, the school-gymnasium,
the boarding school, 2 musical schools and the art school, the center of
general, vocational and working education, 11 public libraries, the museum
of regional studies, the branch of Ufa state petroleum university, the
petroleum college and the medical school, the palace of sports. The newspaper
«Oktyabrsky neftyanik» is published.
